Neuro Rehabilitation

Neuro Rehabilitation

Neuro Rehabilitation is a process that aims to optimize a person’s participation in society and sense of well-being. It focuses on people of all ages who have suffered neurological injury or disease, such as Stroke, Brain Injury, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neuron Disease, Spinal Cord Injury or Dementia.

Occupational Therapists provide goal orientated rehabilitation programmes to equip patients with the skills to become as independent as possible in their activities of daily living.

Occupational Therapy will start in an ICU setting and continues to out-patient rehabilitation. Rehabilitation is at the core of occupational therapy and addresses the needs of persons with injuries, illnesses, or deficits in occupational performance due to other causes.

Overall, the goal of rehabilitation is to help clients, regardless of condition or setting, return to participation in the activities that they need and want to do. To achieve this, clinical practice will increasingly reflect the application of current research, evidence, and critical reasoning to achieve better outcomes.
